  • Our Mission
Peke A Tzu Rescue is devoted to helping all babies in need, but our hearts belong to those that need us the most…the physical and mentally challenged and the seniors. We pray every day that there is someone out there for these special babies that will take them into their hearts and homes. Until that special home comes along they are part of our family and we love them dearly. We also know when we commit to these babies that they may be here with us for the rest of their lives. We offer the sanctuary and love that they need and in return they fill our lives with joy. We feel blessed to have these babies in our home to snuggle and love and will continue to devote our lives to those that need us the most.
A wonderful way for those of you that maintain a lifestyle that prohibits you from physically helping these sweet kids is through sponsorship. It costs over $50.00 per month to vet, groom and feed each of our Haven Babies. Your name and location will be noted under the dog you have chosen to sponsor. You will be kept updated on a monthly basis as to how your “Haven Baby” is progressing. Sponsoring one of our Haven Babies is very fulfilling for you will be able to follow their progress as they heal emotionally and physically, grow to trust and continue to search for their Special Home that they so deserve.

"Peke A Tzu Haven is where we want to be,
Everyone here is so happy and carefree."

    Pupster Sponsorships
We all know that there are different areas that we can help within rescues. Some individuals open their homes to the dogs for fostering, others aid in transports, vet visits and grooming appointments. We realize that many of our lives become very busy and there is just not enough time in the day.
A wonderful way for those of you that maintain a lifestyle that prohibits you from physically helping these sweet kids is through sponsorship.
Your name and location will be noted under the pupster you have chosen to sponsor. You will be kept updated on a monthly basis as to how your “Haven Baby” is progressing.

    Sponsorship Auto Monthly
If you would like to sponsor one of our precious Haven Babies, and would like to have your monthly sponsorship automatically paid via Paypal, please click on the Paypal button below. Many of our Sponsor Parents prefer this option.
If you prefer to pay on a month to month basis please click on the "Sponsor Me" button within each pupster's bio.

    Buffy

I am a beautiful 9 yr old Champagne Liver Shih Tzu girl. I weigh 12 lbs and was born on March 7, 2008. I am a retired breeder.
I am a very loving little girl. Hold me in your lap, give me lots of love and I am yours forever. I love playing with all of the other pupsters and enjoy playing with all of the toys. Mom just loves my little liver lips and is always smooching me. I do have dry eye and need daily eye drops. A home where Mom/Dad could be home with me 24/7 would be great. I prefer a home with no children.
To maintain my excellent health, my diet is extremely important. Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. I am enjoying a yummy turkey & veggie mix raw diet now. Mom alternates between turkey, beef and chicken raw diets. Please read about my special diet. Mom adds the following supplements: digestive enzymes, probiotics, kelp, DMG and salmon oil for a healthy balanced meal. I hope that my forever Mom/Dad will love me enough to keep me on a raw diet.
I am working on house training and do well during grooming.
I am spayed, current on vaccinations, tested heartworm negative, on a monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300.
We appreciate Jean Iovino of California for lovingly sponsoring Buffy.

Please click on Chiclet's Video Clip to see me in action!
I am a very sweet, lovable little girl who wants nothing more than lots of cuddles and kisses. I love to cuddle up close to Mom and Dad when it is time to go to bed. I get along great with the other pupsters, but rather observe than take part in playing. I am sight impaired. I am looking forward to having my very own Mom and Dad. I will need a fenced in yard and I prefer a home with no children.
Because I am a senior, my diet is an extremely important factor in my overall health. Claire

I weigh 10 lbs and am a beautiful Affenpinscher girl. I am 16 yrs old, have retired from the breeding world and was born on April 25, 2001.
I am surely enjoying life here. Soft beds, good food and friends to play with. I am still a bit shy, but know that with all of the love surrounding me I will overcome this. I do enjoy being held and cuddled. Bedtime is my favorite time of the day for I get to snuggle close to Mom and Dad. I am looking forward to my new home where Mom/Dad can be home with me most of the time. I would do fine without another playmate for at times I can be a bit alpha. A fenced in yard is a must and no children please.

    Classie

I am 10 yrs old, weigh 6 lbs and am a beautiful gold and blue Yorkie girl. I am a retired breeder.
I will need a very special home for you see I am blind. I have adult cataracts in both eyes. This does not slow me down however. Once I know where everything is at I do just as well as the other pupsters with sight. I discovered this thing called a doggy door and have fun going in and out. All you need to do is say my name and my tail is wagging and I am ready to give you lots and lots of love. I am looking for a home that understands my special needs and loves me for who I am. I love to be cuddled by Mom and Dad and snuggle right in and give the best kisses. I do well with the other pupsters and would love another pupster to snuggle with. Also, my Mom/Dad would need to be home with me 24/7. I prefer no children.

    Elizabeth

I am a beautiful blonde and white, 14 lb, 12 yr old Pekingese girl.
I was adopted at a shelter in New Jersey by two very loving people. Unfortunately I had not been evaluated properly before being placed and I have some issues. I would bite out of fear. These wonderful people worked with me for 2 1/2 months and just could not figure out how to help me. They contacted PATR and we drove all the way to Michigan so that I could get help. I have been doing great and am a bit more comfortable now and know that no one is going to hurt me. I still am a bit unpredictable, particularly with strangers. Mom does have to put me in another room for I will bite. I do have luxating patella in both back legs.
When I am adopted I will need a home with no children, someone who has lots of patience and experience with my kind of behavior. I will also need a fenced yard. I am still terrified of a leash and we are working on that.
I can be very difficult during grooming, but am house trained.
I am spayed, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on a monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300.

    Jorja

Hello there friends! The name's Jorja. I am a 10 lb, brindle & white, 8 yr old Shih Tzu girl. I am a retired breeder and was born on June 19, 2009.
I'm a quiet gal ready to find a loving companion to spend the rest of my life with. I'm a sweet, sensitive lady looking for a quiet home where I can be loved and pampered. I'm going to be better suited for a family without young children. I take a little bit of time to warm up to new people, but once I get comfortable, I love getting attention and snuggling in close so I hope you don't mind sharing some of that couch or dare I say it, bed space! I really enjoy getting my booty scratched and sometimes I'll even sneak in a kiss or two. Hope you don't mind doggy breath! I know I'm not a puppy anymore and I have a grade 4 heart murmer so you may not get to love me for as long as you would like but the love you do provide me will bring me so much happiness!! Please consider making me a part of your family.

    Kia

I am a very cute 11 yr old brindle and white Shih Tzu girl. I weigh 11 lbs and was born on July 5, 2005.
My owner sent me to join the PATR pupsters because she was not home with me enough. I am a sweet little girl once I get to know you. I am very nervous around strangers and will nip if someone reaches for me too quickly. I love the other pupsters here and can keep up with the best of them during playtime. Toys are the greatest, naps are enjoyed thoroughly on a nice soft bed and running and playing outside is way too much fun. I enjoy being in Mom and Dad's arms, but there are times where I prefer to be by myself and just contemplate what is going on around me. I am very fearful when I see the vet so care has to be taken. I would love a home with a fenced in yard where Mom/Dad could be home with me 24/7. I prefer no children please.

    Lily

I am 13 yrs old, weigh 12 lbs and am a beautiful white and cream Shih Tzu girl. I was born on January 26, 2004.
My prior owners had me for a short time and realized that I had issues that they felt they could not work through so I came to PATR to go through the Pupster Rehabilitation Program. I have so much love to give and at times am very, very loving. But, I really am not sure of myself and have a lot of fears. Mom and Dad are working with me on this. I can be dog and people aggressive. I also suffer from separation anxiety...I need to have Mom or Dad in my sight at all times. I have been diagnosed with a heart murmer and am on medication. I also have limited sight in my right eye and need daily eye drops. I know there is a wonderful home out here for me where Mom/Dad will continue working with me on my problems. I would love a fenced in yard and cannot be placed with children.
To maintain my excellent health, my diet is extremely important. Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. Macy

I am a beautiful 14 yr old blonde and white Pekingese girl. I weigh 10 lbs.
My Mom had some medical issues so I came to stay with the PATR crew until I can find my Forever Home.
I am a sweet little girl and love to be held and cuddled. I enjoy being outside and love to go for walks. I play well with the other pupsters, but can be a bit alpha so being an only dog in the household would be great. I have lost my right eye due to glaucoma and am blind in my left eye, but I get around wonderfully and this does not slow me down a bit. I do have bilatteral luxating patellas and am on medication. I am looking forward to my new home.

I am a retired breeder. Life is definitely looking up for me. I have not lived a very pleasant life, but now I am surrounded by love. Lots of toys, cushy beds, a large play area, total freedom and most of all lots of hugs and kisses. I get along great with the rest of the pupsters and enjoy snuggling with them at naptime. I can be a bit shy at times, but once I get to know you I am a little lovebug. I would love a home where Mom/Dad could be home with me most of the time. Mei-Ling

I am a very pretty 13 yr old black and white Shih Tzu girl and weigh 12 lbs.
My prior owners were very abusive. They thought nothing of kicking and hitting me with their fists. Thank goodness this wonderful lady from the humane society stepped in, saved me and asked PATR to welcome me into their loving environment. I had a very large kidney stone removed and am on a raw diet and supplements which will need to be continued when I am adopted with frequent checkups from the vet. I am a very needy little girl who wants as much laptime as possible. The other pupsters are OK, but I just sit back and watch them play. I would prefer to be the one and only. I love my Mom, but am more drawn to my Dad. I enjoy walks, car rides and going whereever Mom and Dad go. After all I have been through, it would be wonderful to find a nice quiet home with no small children, no other pets and a Mom/Dad that could be home with me 24/7.
To maintain my excellent health, my diet is extremely important. Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. I am a lovable, gentle little girl who enjoys laptime and cuddles. I get along wonderfully with all of the other pupsters. I enjoy being outside and observing all that is going on around me. I am a very playful, energetic 14 yr old Pekingese girl. I was born on September 10, 2002 and weigh 8 lbs. I am a beautiful sable girl with a black mask.
I am enjoying my retirement from the breeding world and all the pupsters definitely know that I have arrived! I am one busy little girl, full of energy and lots of love. I am a bit nervous when I do not know you, but once I am comfortable I will win your heart over. I can be a bit sassy at times, but Mom says she loves my Pekey attitude. I get along well with the other pupsters, but can be a bit "alpha" so need a home all to myself or with a pupster that will accept me as being the boss. I do have bilatteral luxating patellas and am on medication. It would be great if my special Mom/Dad could be home with me 24/7 and a fenced in yard is a must.
Because of my health concerns, my diet is extremely important. Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. Mom adds the following supplements: digestive enzymes, probiotics, kelp, DMG and salmon oil for a healthy balanced meal. I hope that my forever Mom/Dad will love me enough to keep me on a raw diet.
I am working on house training and do well during grooming.
I am spayed, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300.
We appreciate Miranda Sanchez of Michigan for lovingly sponsoring Sunshine.

I am a beautiful 11 yr old sable Pekingese girl with a black mask. I weigh 12 lbs. I was dumped at a shelter .
Please click on Sushi's Video Clip to see me in action!
I am full of boundless energy and surely love my lap time. I do fairly well with the other pupsters, but am an alpha girl. I love to be cuddled and held close and give wonderful soft Pekey kisses. I would enjoy a home with a fenced in yard, would like to be the one and only and no children please.
To maintain my excellent health, my diet is an extremely important factor in my overall health.
