Forever Home Update August 25, 2014 Hi Jan, Just wanted to send you a quick update on Leah. She has really come out of her shell & is such a wonderful lil girl!! She has a big voice when she wants to let you know someone is here! She loves to play more & more with her toys & her brother Maxx. I just got her groomed into the cutiest little hair cut ever!! We are busy planning a big camping trip for Labor Day weekend. She LOVES to go camping! She also loves to travel. I will send you more pictures & We also have a care package to send you & the pupsters when we return from our camping trip. I just fall more & more in love with this lil girl. Thank you so much for her. Shes a real blessing! Hope all is well, Shelly, Leah & Maxx July 5, 2014 Hi Jan, Leah is camping this 4th of July weekend. I thought I would send you a picture of her first bike ride. She was a little unsure at first but after a few minutes she was enjoying the ride in her basket with the breeze in her hair!! I also sent you a pic of our tired girl after her long walk. She is keeping up better with her brother Maxx but is soooo tired afterwards! Also, I am happy to report that she WILL potty outside for my husband!! I dont know why she won't for me. She won't potty for him if I'm outside with them either....but we are making progress!!! Have a blessed weekend! Shelly & Leah April 26, 2014 Hi Jan, I wanted to give you an update. Lyssa rode excellent all the way home. She was on my lap the entire way. She also started to trust me and ate some homemade snacks. When we got home I placed the blanket you gave me on her new bed. She went right to her new bedroom & laid on her bed. Then she ate her dinner & had a nap. She is now wrapped up in a blanket on my lap & I'm rocking her while we watch her brother Maxx play & put on a show for us. Lily the potbelly pig likes Lyssa also. So far so good! Thanks so much for our new little blessing! Shelly April 28, 2014 Hi Jan, I thought I would give you another update on Lyssa. We actually changed her name to Leah. It sounds similar but we have Lyssa and Lisa in our family already. She is doing really well! She is starting to know her name. She is following me around the house & likes to be close to me. She loves to be wrapped up in a blanket and rocked. When it comes to their bedroom, she likes Maxxs bed better than her own lol. Maxx does not mind at all. She eats really well & enjoys her homemade doggie biscuits. Our only problem so far is her not going to the bathroom. She holds it for 12 or more hours! I have a puppy pad down & I take her outside often but she just wants to go back in the house. I know I need to be patient and I know she'll catch on eventually. Any advise? We have an appointment at the vet tomorrow for a check up & so she can meet the vet. I just wanted you to know she's doing well! Have a blessed evening Shelly May 1, 2014 Hi Jan, Here is another update on our girl Leah. She is doing well & she gets excited every time I walk into the room. We are bonding very well & rather fast. She is giving me all kinds of kisses just like you said she would!! We are still struggling with potty training, but we will get there. She loves to be outside but will not potty outside. She started to walk on a leash today. She did pretty good but not ready for a marathon just yet! lol. She is very good riding in the car too! As you know we went to the vet yesterday. I gave Leah & Maxx both rescue remedy before we went. They both did excellent! My husband & I took them to the new Vet in Sandusky. I was so impressed with the Vet & the staff! We were there for two hours! The Vet was very kind, caring & very thorough. You would of been so proud, Leah was not afraid!! The Vet said she was parasite free, in good health, yet could stand to gain a little weight. I had them check her ears like you recommended. Maxx & Leah both have ear infections & she prescribed a medication for their ears. She also showed me how to apply the meds & how to clean their ears. She thinks its due to a food allergy, possibly chicken. We discussed their diet & she gave me some recommendations. I decided I would gradually put them both on a hypoallergenic dog food. You can only get this food from the vet. After 12 weeks I will put them back on chic & see what happens. I will have to monitor their diet closely but I'm determined to find the cause of the allergy & overcome it. Leah loves to be wrapped up in her blanky and lay in my lap every night. I'm falling in love with this lil dog. Thank you so much!! Give Petals a big hello from me. I'll never forget that happy lil dog. Thanks again, Shelly May 18, 2014 Hi Jan, Here are a few pictures of Leah! What a sweet girl she is! She has found her voice & barks when someone is at the door or a new person comes to our home. She is starting to play with Maxx & toys. Maxx is so gentle & kind to her. Leah is warming up to my husband a great deal but she is definitely my dog! Lol She follows me every where! She travels in the car very well! She likes me to carry her around! Lol She jumps on me when she wants me to pick her up! My husband says she's spoiled & I must agree! She loves to be dressed up & her closet of clothing is growing! The only difficulty we are having is potty training. I take Leah out everytime I take Maxx out to potty. She has no clue to what we are doing. She will not potty outside. She will not potty on a potty pad unless she is contained to it. I'm working with her & its going to take some time...we will get there. I want to thank you so much for Leah. She is my sweet baby girl! I am definitely her person & that is what I was looking for!! Have a blessed day! Shelly June 9, 2014 Hi Jan, I thought I would take a minute and give you an update on Leah. She is doing very very well! I just love her!! She definitely knows her name & she comes to me when I call her. (That is something Maxx will not do, the lil stinker!) She is really coming out of her shell! She does very well when getting her bath & groomed. She looks so cute with bows in her hair. She has turned into quite a barker when someone new enters the home or comes into her personal space. She is finally warming up to my husband & will sit on his lap if my lap in unavailable. lol She is definitely my lil dog. She loves to follow me around everywhere, she will sit on my lap any chance she gets. She loves to be rocked & wrapped up in a blanket in the evening, just like a baby. She is so spoiled! She took her first camping trip this weekend. I was a little nervous on how she would do. There were going to be more dogs & small children camping with us. She was excellent! She enjoyed being outside & rolled in the grass & soaked in the sun! She is doing so well walking on a leash! Although she can not keep up with Maxx, so I have to carry her back cause my lil pumpkin gets so tired! So I just bought a new puppy purse to carry her in so she can look fabulous & relax while Maxx & I finish our walk. She loves the bonfires too. She cozies up to the warm fire after she has her graham cracker & sleeps like a baby. She finally potted outside once while we were camping!!!! But she just hasn't figured out the potty training yet. I think she is to engrossed in all the new sights & smells outside to understand what I'm trying to teach her. I thought if she seen the other dogs potty she would copy them, Nope not my girl.... she doesn't care what they are doing, shes off with the wind in her hair smelling flowers, eating grass & chasing butterflies! Shelly February 11, 2015 Hi Jan, I thought I would give you a quick update on our girl Leah. She is just the sweetest little girl, and she is so loving to me. She loves to join me in the office during the day, if shes not on my lap shes laying at my feet in the sunshine taking a mid day nap. She enjoys going for a ride in the car and she is a perfect passenger sitting in her car seat, although if im not driving, shes on my lap. I am happy to report she is finally doing better at potty training!! She goes out side or her puppy pad at night. Oh its been a long road but we are getting there. She has found a new best friend with my daughter's westiephoo, Zoi. They play together really well & give each other kisses. They are very cute. Maxx & Leah are going to the groomer tomorrow and then to the vet next week for a check up. They are both doing well on their homecooked diet. She loves venison, and You were right, Leah loves to eat! Well thats about all thats going on here in Deford. I'll send some pictures soon. Hope all is well, Shelly & Leah xo September 24, 2015 Hi Jan, It's been awhile and Leah is doing great!!! She is very healthy & loves her home cooked organic diet! She loves to eat!!! Lol I wanted to send you some pictures of her great adventures. She's a busy little girl, she loves to go for a ride in anything that moves!! She loves the boat trips up north and enjoys camping too! She enjoys her brother Maxx & loves her bff Zoi. She is finially opening up to other people now even children, but she is definitely my baby!! She is absolutely a precious little thing, & her favorite place to be is right on my lap! I'm also happy to report We are 98% potty trained!!!
