Murphy's Forever Home Update

Murphy's
Forever Home
Update

August 20, 2016
Hi Jan,
We made it home a little bit ago. My daughter decided that Rocko seemed more like a Murphy on the ride back so I guess we'll see how he likes it. When we got here we took him out to the back yard and he LOVED it! He just pranced all over the place and tried to play with Lulu a little. I finally got him to come inside and I think he's made himself quite comfy.
Thanks so much!

Hi Jan,
Murphy is still very antsy, he walks in circles a lot, but he's coming along I think. I don't know if you heard me tell him on the way out of your office that the laundry was his chore to do? Well, he took me seriously :)

Hi Jan,
Murphy is doing better every day. He seems to know his new name now and he's calming down a little more every day. I took him for his 1st visit with his new vet yesterday, just to get him established, and he's still doing well. He treated both Doctors to a show of his nervous circling LOL. I've learned that if he just gets picked up when he starts that it helps. He LOVES bedtime and seems to think that the pillows are only for him :) I found that he loves to be brushed so every night when we get in bed I brush his tail and ears and whatever side he isn't laying on...he just stretches right out and sometimes lifts a leg so I can get his belly too. He's getting spoiled :) He and Lulu (the Pom) have become fast friends and they are really cute racing around the yard together. He loves to be outside. I've found a new groomer that I'm going to try in September. She just graduated from canine cosmetology school and one of my old co-workers takes her Shih Tzu there. Her Milo always looks adorable so I got the girl's number. I guess that's pretty much it for now. I hope you have a great day!

Hi Jan!
Murphy is doing really well. He's finally figured out how to work the stairs so there's no keeping him "down on the farm". He's actually a little cocky about it and goes in circles around me when I go down the stairs. I've taken a tumble before so I'm kind of slow on the stairs and he's just full of piss & vinegar! He's getting better all the time when people visit. At first he'd just pace in circles but now, even though he won't go near the visitor, he isn't circling so much. He's never sucked on his tail so that's good. He LOVES to be in the yard. He and Lulu are convinced that they will catch that squirrel one of these days LOL! Now that he's settled in more I'm starting to see his personality come out and he's a little stinker :) He thinks he has me believing that he can't get up and down from the bed. When it's bedtime I ask him if he's ready for bed and he'll stand up on his hind legs so I can pick him up and put him on the bed. What he doesn't know is that I can feel him get down and get back up during the night LOL. He's still loving our nightly brushing routine. He just stretches right out so I can brush his tummy. He's done VERY well as far as going out to potty. There were a couple of accidents in the beginning but that was because I didn't recognize his pee-pee dance. Now I know when he needs to go out and it's not been a problem since.
I'm so glad to have him :)

Hi Jan,
I just thought I'd give you a little update on Murphy. He had his 1st spa day at the groomer's this week and she said he did very well. He looks adorable :) I was worried that he might get a chill after losing so much hair so I got him a Halloween sweater (it's purple with white skulls on it) and he seems to really like it. He is still very anxious in a lot of situations but I think he'll get better with time. For now he seems to have decided that our bedroom is his safe zone and he spends a lot of time up here. Well, when he isn't out in the yard that is. He's certainly an outdoor lover. I'm sending a couple of pictures that I took this evening. I turned on the heated mattress pad and he found the warm spot real quick!
Take Care,
Jean
